Objectives
The participant:
- Get an overview of alternative drive technologies at BMW and at the market.
- Understands the essential technical, economic and social boundary conditions and is familiar with components and typical architectures of electrified drives.
- Is able to evaluate the influence of the topic electromobility on their working environment.

- Definition of a hybrid drive, historical background, political motivation for alternative drives.
- Advancement of producer and customer in several world markets.
- Driving conditions and possible savings (start-stop, boost, recuperation, sailing, electrical driving).
- Hybrids (structure, concepts, realised vehicles).
- Serial hybrid, parallel hybrid, power-split hybrid, range extender, plug-in hybrids.
- Micro, mild and full hybrid.
- Fundamentals of electric motors and cells/batteries.
- Structure, function, mode of action, differences, strategy at BMW.
- Electrified vehicles.
- Structure, function, mode of action.
- Mobility and recharging concepts (recharging station, exchange battery).
